Brazil and the world tourism ranking

If you visit the World Economic Forum site, you may find some information about the Tourism Development in the World. And we cannot say that Brazil is in a good position in that ranking, once it followdonw from the 47º to the 53º position between the Countries that has been considered as nice place to be visited.
However, the Country is the number one when the issue is Natural Recourses. They say Brazil has the richest fauna in the world and several historic and humane inheritance sites to be visited. That is right. Witch Country have 9.198 Km of coast with nice beaches and different whether? Yes, in Brazil you could find a tropical whether (north and northeast) and temperate whether, (southeast and South). European tourists have to be prepared to long trips if they intend to visit the interior of the country. It could take some hours flying or days driving. Here go some dimensions just in order to give any idea about some parts of Brazil:
São Paulo: the most development state: 248.209.4 Km2
Minas Gerais: Historic places: 586.528 Km2
Bahia: beaches, afro-culture and historic places: 564.692,67 Km2
Rio Grande do Sul: German and Italic colonization, wines, and historic places: 385.000 Km2
France: Europe: 550.000 Km2
Spain: Europe: 504.000 Km2
Texas State –USA - 696 241 km²
From Salvador, the Capital of Bahia, to São Paulo, by plane, we take two hours flying. From São Paulo to Porto Alegre, Capital of Rio Grande do Sul, we take the same time. But if you are thinking to go to Manaus, Capital of the Amazonas State( 1.577.820,2 km²), it will take five hours flying, from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
And why the Country had lost in that ranking?
The worst answers say about our infrastructure as a public transportation, low qualification for the work force and, above all, the rules for the new business in the tourism area. Brazil, for instance, is one of the Countries where is too hard to open a new business, because of the bureaucracy.
Another strong negative point is the world common sense about the Brazilian violence, special in the big cities. We should say, thanks Rio de Janeiro…
The research also shows that the Government doesn’t give to the tourism industry the real importance that it should deserve. The prices of the tickets are another issue that was remained as a problem because of the federal tax that it contains inside, as well a lot of products and services allover the Country. The tax charge in Brazil is quit high. The main problem is that the consumers pay a lot of income and don´t receive enough benefits.
Well, the Mexico, in this field, is better then Brazil. In the same ranking they went up eight steps and are now the 43º.
I´m talking only about the tourism industry, of course.
If we compare Brazil with other countries, as the BRICs, just for example, our Country has a lot of favorite’s points as an industrial and commodities producer. Our Legal system works well, the corruption has been struggling and our social system also works as well, medical assistance gratuitous included. The same situation we have in our politic system: free elections without problems and freedom to the press. If we compare Brazil to India, Russian and China, Brazil is, so far, the best of them, even though we have a lot of social problems like any other industrial and occidental country. But there is no social and human rights problem as a result of a millenary culture as we should see in other countries.
The two main politic Parties follow a social democracy and we do not have problem against any religious manifestation, sex option, races/origin or politic positions. The nation is free to receive new investments and the rules are clear to the foreigner capital. Well, in fact the bureaucracy in some sectors is an obstacle. It´s our Iberia Peninsula´s heritage…
But if you talk about tourism, we need, as fast as we can, gain some politic desire to go ahead thinking in the next World Coup 2014 and The Olympic Games 2016.
That´s it.
